More homes damaged during the floods of 08 are finally coming down.
This time the focus is rural Linn County.
Flooded-out cabins, sheds, and one old and historic hotel.
This week demolition crews are working on the old Cedar Springs Hotel near Mount Vernon.
Built in the 1880's, the hotel was a vacation destination and restaurant up through the mid-1960's.
It closed to the public in 1965 and sat empty for forty years.
Then the floods of 08 hit.
"We have a lot of people come in and look around and somebody's gonna get hurt, so it's gotta come down," said hotel owner Pat Biderman.
Linn County is scheduled to knock down close to 20 structures between now and Thanksgiving.
Both FEMA and the state are covering all costs.

February 09, 2010 09:23 EST

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa authorities say a Pennsylvania man faces drug charges after a deputy pulled his car over for speeding and found 56 pounds of marijuana in two suitcases.

The Pottawattamie County sheriff's office says 25-year-old Mark Zimmerman of Morrisville, Pa., was arrested Saturday on Interstate 80 near Council Bluffs.

Sgt. Dwayne Riche says a deputy found the pot during the stop.

Zimmerman was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. He was taken to the Pottawattamie County jail. Jail officials say Zimmerman was released Monday.

The sheriff's office on Tuesday didn't know whether Zimmerman had hired an attorney.
