The Hawkeyes get the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, at least the regional edition.
Everyone wants a copy but not everyone can find one.

I haven't seen it anywhere, says one hawk fan.
Its giving them the publicity they deserve, says a fan.

Iowa Books on campus doesnt have the Sports Illustrated Hawkeye Edition but the store should be getting 200 copies Thursday night.

But could the cover be bad for the hawks?
Ever heard of the cover curse?

Sports website Bleacherreport.com takes a look back at SI covers and what happened following the magazines debut.

In 1991, Desmond Howard graced the cover after a win against the Fighting Irish; his team lost the next game.

In 2003, The Kansas City Chiefs were 9-0 and got on the cover of Sports Illustrated because of it.; that next weekend, the Chiefs lost.

Same story, different year.
In 2007, Michigan's Mike Hart got on the cover; the Wolverines lost their next game.

But the hawks don't buy it.

If you loose a game- you loose a game. On the cover or not, says a player.

All those jinx that come out on the covers, more mental than anything, says another.

Nah- I don't believe in anything like that, adds another player.

The fans dont believe in the curse either.

I don't believe in that, they've been down a bunch and came back. This won't phase them, says Patrick Bowers.

As of Thursday night, the Barnes and Noble in Cedar Rapids is sold out of the Hawkeye Sports Illustrated edition.
The Barnes and Noble in Coralville had a few copies left.
All stores we talked with say they are expected to get more copies but they don't know when or how many.

Inmates assaulted officers at prison facility
November 20, 2009 17:36 EST

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) -- The Iowa Department of Corrections is investigating a pair of assaults on officers at its Oakdale Medical and Classification Center near Coralville.

The department reported Friday that the attacks took place on Nov. 15 and are also being investigated by the Coralville Police Department.

Officials say that in one assault, 22-year-old convicted kidnapper and robber Earl Griffin punched a guard in the shoulder and face, harming the guard's teeth and blacking both of his eyes. The attack occurred shortly after Griffin had received his medication in the facility's pill line.

The department says that a short time later, 18-year-old convicted murderer Damion Seats punched another officer in the face and neck.

Both Griffin and Seats have since been transferred to the Iowa State Penitentiary.
