It's tough to hear a child describing how his own mother attacked him, and his younger brother.
Thats part of what jurors in the Michelle Kehoe trial heard during the first day of testimony.

The judge heard from several witnesses telling emotional and horrifying stories of what they saw in Littleton in October of 2008.

Michelle showed little emotion - even as she listened to her surviving son on a recording telling police she hurt him and his brother.

"My mom put duct tape on my eyes, nose and mouth, Sean said in a statement after the incident. "I don't know why!?!"

On several occasions as she listened to Sean, she did smirk, shake her head or nod. Only once, did she hold her head down.

Witness after witness, even in Seans own words, jurors heard the same story.

Sean tried to save his little brother Sethbut it was too late.

He said the first aid kit was out there because he'd tried to help him, First Responder, Shawn Davis said.

Seth's body lay on the ground, near the family's white van overnight.

"Her clothes had blood all over them; there was blood on her pants, in her hair," Hinde testified.

"She said someone tried to kill her kids," neighbor Deborah Hinde testified.

Deborah was home, and called 911.

But no one knew what was just around the bend...from her home.

Firefighter Shawn Davis was the first to find out.

"We asked him who did this, and he told us his mother did," Shawn Davis said.

But jurors are getting a clear picture from the prosecution's witnesses.

Inmates assaulted officers at prison facility
November 20, 2009 17:36 EST

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) -- The Iowa Department of Corrections is investigating a pair of assaults on officers at its Oakdale Medical and Classification Center near Coralville.

The department reported Friday that the attacks took place on Nov. 15 and are also being investigated by the Coralville Police Department.

Officials say that in one assault, 22-year-old convicted kidnapper and robber Earl Griffin punched a guard in the shoulder and face, harming the guard's teeth and blacking both of his eyes. The attack occurred shortly after Griffin had received his medication in the facility's pill line.

The department says that a short time later, 18-year-old convicted murderer Damion Seats punched another officer in the face and neck.

Both Griffin and Seats have since been transferred to the Iowa State Penitentiary.
