Comment: I would want to hear the speech first before allowing kids to hear it. The student's time would be better used by studying or attending class as usual. by Fern
Comment: This a big waste of time for the kids and B.O.I think he has bigger problems than this! by Bill
Comment: Just as they have shown addresses in the past by Presidents Bush and Reagan, they should indeed show President Obama's address to the students. To not do so is to give into the racially biased, high-pitched rantings going on nowaday in America. It is ridiculous that an elected President is being treated so badly.. and a poor reflection on schools if they give in to the unfounded gripes of those who find fault with everything and anything he does. Lighten up, people! Your kids may just find some motivation tomorrow, by listening to this highly educated man. by Lora
Comment: Since the large number of teachers are union members who back Obama's policies we simply don't trust teachers or politicians anymore. The propaganda spewed out by the teachers throughout the Dubuque Community School District is disgusting. by Joel
Comment: Our society is based comunication and openess. When both parties agree to this we will be bipartisian by craig
Comment: Anyone talking about the value of education should be welcome in all schools. Parents and teachers can use the president’s message to start a constructive discussion about a student future education.
Don’t be afraid. Take the opportunity.
by James
Comment: Why should we let a paolitian speak to our children when we can't say the pledge of alegence or pray in our schools? It is morally wrong & constitutionaly wrong. by Tonja
Comment: Absolutly not. Kids get enough trash nowadays. by Howard
Comment: Absolutely! This is absolutely ridiculous that anyone has an issue with their children listening to our president speak about staying in school. Some people are always looking for something to complain about. I support my children watching it. by Jamie
Comment: It is rediculus that anyone would oppose ANY president talking to students. Call it what it is, RACISM. The first Bush did it and it was supposedly great then. Why not our black President??? by James
Comment: Here is another "give me a break!". If I had a president actually talk to me when I was a kid, WOW! If my kids would have had a President talk to them, WOW! Come on people, are you more republican or parents? What an incredible opportunity for our kids, a President emphasising education. Why would you take that opportunity away from your kids? I bet if a famous football coatch did the same thing, urging kids to stay in school (probably it would be more stay in school, play football), no one would have a problem. Education does take second seat over education. I bet you let your kids watch commercials, that is a good influence. As you can tell I have a lot of sarcasim over this. by d
Comment: As a parent and a student I understand that education is vital to understanding the world around us. Tomorrows address to the children of our great country will hopefully encourage our struggling youth as well as support our ambitious children ;to go forth with their education. I think that children deserve as much encouragement as possible. If I recall correctly President Bush addressed students when I was in high school sometime during 2001. by Elizabeth
Comment: It is just about education. no hidden agenda. My child is excited that he is going to talk to them. Let it go folks! by ahhi
Comment: Obama wants the kids to decide what they can do for him...Should be what can you do for your country. by Tom
Comment: My guess is that student curiosity would lead 90% students to say YES. by Arlin
Comment: Yes, He is the president of these United States of America. I have not agreed with every president, but I will always respect the office. by Bernie
Comment: FREEDOM of speech isn't DEAD is it? What can our president say that shouldn't be heard NATION WIDE? Keep your kids at home if you are against Social/Medical/Taxation REFORM. by Sara
Comment: this is the most worthless president in our history. shame on america for electing him. by todd
Comment: Kids don't need to get the liberal treatment at this stage of their life. That is what our schools preach all through collge and put us in the precarious position that we are in today. Generally is the wrong message that is formed in our young peoples minds.
Comment: I don't get it. I heard one parent say they didn't want their child "brain washed", what do you think church does? This is a fantastic event! What better role model than the President. And what better message! The schools and parents should be embracing this. Reminds me of the gullibility of the American people believing in Palin's death panels. This is a much better message than the football "heroes" you allow them to watch. by fed up with people
Comment: Many homes are NOT encouraging their children to stay in school. Iowa should not have the number of drop-outs that we do. by Jan
Comment: It's because he's black. If as before nothing was ever said,it was great that the pres would talk to the kids and the U.S.A.,we would stop everything to listen. It's an after thought now, what did ya think he was going to tell the kids,to go buy drugs, commit crimes? Get real he is our president for petes sake. Somebody has to talk to them most of you don't talk to your kids so don't be offended when a GOOD LEADER
trys to do right by you,and the kids to not give up that problems do pass and that education is the key to the American dream,if you really want it,it is here, just ask anyone not from here. by Robert
Comment: No matter where you stand democrat or republican you should always respect your president. Why did so many grades have it different in cedar rapids schools? High school and middle school watched it. But elem. could not. I wanted my children to watch it. by tmo
