Comment: What if a politician made your heart medication illegal? by Steve

Comment: I think it should be I have fibermialgia and it would really help me with the pain I have all the time. by Marcia

Comment: I feel that the only reason it is illegal is that it helps so many ailments.. Drug companies are scared of competition by Denyse

Comment: We already have drugs available for pain. If legalized, what if after using it for a few years, they could contract lung cancer - who pays for that? by TJ

Comment: The earth provides us with many helpful things, and we should put them to use. Why should the government control what we put into our bodies once we are of legal age? Regardless of the propaganda thrown around, it IS safer than alcohol. Our country can only be free when our bodies are free as well. by Nicole

Comment: I suffer from pain from E.D.S. I have tried it and it has helped but i dont want to go to jail and mess up my life. But i would love for it to be ok for me to use.

Comment: I think it should be because it would help alot of people i know someone that has been told by doctors to get use to living with alot of pain for the rest of this persons life and this person told me that smokin really helps handle the pain! by Crystal

Comment: There is no reason not to legalize marijuana. If anything, ALCOHOL should be illegalized and marijuana should be legalized. Look at all the problems alcohol brings - fights, rape, & death. How about the kid who's on trial for blacking out on his 21st b-day, walking into a random house, and killing an elderly man. How many people have you heard of that got so "stoned" they blacked out - NEVER. Or how many prisoners do you think are in jail that were intoxicated when they committed there crime? The point is that Marijuana just slows you down and at worst makes you dumb for a couple of hours. It doesn't make you black out and lose control, get in fights [beer muscles], or have any of the other horrible side effects that come along with alcohol. There is absolutely no reason marijuana shouldn't be legal, and it's absurd that it's not legal for medical use. If alcohol and tobacco are legal,Marijuana should be too. It's not physically addicting and has not been proven to be mentally addicting. Of course no one should drive high, but in the private of your own home you should be allowed to relax and light one up. by joe

Comment: There is no question, marijuana should be legal only for medical purpose. People today use more affective medications that have more harmful side affects short and long term. These like marijuana are highly addictive and sold on streets everywhere. Therefore law enforcement has more than marijuana as a problem. Most importantly the government will contain better control of the marketing and sales of marijuana. More money in our economy and more employment. Also this will decrease the amount of prisoners that are government shelters. I hope are state looks this bill over without bias. Today's economy is suffering without doubt. We know marijuana is very effective on pain relief. Can this turn or uplift today's economy? That's the question we need to answer! by eric

Comment: Totally legalize it and tax it. by william

Comment: Helped me with my Arthritis.

Comment: You can legalize it or you can waste all your tax dollars for police to hunt down minor offenders. They would have more time and energy to deal with SERIOUS crimes. Not only that but once you take the "thrill" out of breaking the law a lot of people are not going to partake in it.

Comment: I suffer from chronic pain and if I had medicinal marijuana instead of Morphine, I would have better pain control that is not addicting. by Scott

Comment: To reduce the suffering for the chemotherapy patients. by Kevin

Comment: All use should be okay for anyone 18 and older as long as one is being responsible. Also, should be legal to grow it. Because marijuana looks like hemp, farmers are deprived of very large world market. And it should not be gov. controlled or taxed. Thank You by George

Comment: It seems to me that plenty of negative hype has been placed on this weed. If the euphoric effects can minimize the suffering for our loved ones then I say... Leagalize it now! Followed by asking... What are we waiting for? I would never wish upon you the suffering that those have to endure! Wake up!! by Alan

Comment: I absolutely support the legalization of medical marijuana. You can't tell me the other 13 states are wrong that have legalized it. It most definitely does have medicinal value! by anon

Comment: People respond differently to medications, among many things. Some get little or no relief from legal substances. Let us show compassion for those who really seem to need marijuana--legalize it for them. Perhaps we will someday realize that the best way to control mj use is to legalize it, period. Mj is addictive? So are tobacco, alcohol, gambling, some medications, coffee, chocolate and other sweets .... Mj is not the worst of these, yet only it is illegal. Go figure. by Linda

Comment: It seems to have benefits for certain diseases. by Paul

Comment: why would you legalize a drug that has been used in the wrong manner? People are only going to abuse the actual use of it, just because its legalized. by Holly

Comment: I whole heartedly believe that medical marijuana should be legalized. In my practice as a Registered Nurse I can attest to the fact that we administer medications far more dangerous, as well as those KNOWN to be highly addictive on a regular basis: for example morphine, dilaudid, hyrdacodone. These have side effects up to and including hallucinations, respiratory depression, and death. Xanax and Ativan are two other prime examples of highly addictive medications administered for anxiety, frequently to the elderly who then become highly dependent on them. If this is acceptable, what are we afraid of with medical marijauna? There is absolutely NO reason that the power to decide appropriate pain intervention for patients should be in the hands of lawmakers rather than physicians. Living with severe long term pain is something that most people (thankfully) will never fully understand. by Registered Nurse

Comment: I sure hope the STONED woman you interviewed on this evenings news is, "like man", not allowed to, "like man", DRIVE! by Charles

Comment: It should be legalized period. People can smoke and drink leagally why not be able to just smoke a joint and be done with it. PUFF PUFF give.

Comment: Yes, it can help many people who are sick be able to eat and help easy the pain of different diseases. by Jamie

Comment: i believe it's time for the law makers to wakes up and smell the coffee burning.i'm sure ther are people out there that can use pot for medical reasons. by gary

Comment: Everyone can agree that marijuana makes you sleepy & hungry. That basic fact alone shows madicinal value for those with appetite or sleeping problems.

Comment: I have a friend who has a bad back. For some reason his doctor prescribed him oxycontent pills. Basically, he became addicted & they nearly ruined his life. Oxy's are a far more dangerous drug than Marijuana & docs prescribe them everyday. by Zeke

Comment: This so called war on drugs has long failed. It is time to begine a new (green) industry and raise, regulate, dispense and tax Mary Jane. by Randall

Comment: Absolutely, I do! It should be legal in Iowa now for people who need this drug for medical reasons. Especially dealing with very horrible affect of chemotherapy for cancer* by Joey

Comment: It helps so many conditions with a lot less side effects than other standard drugs. by Bruce

Comment: Marijuana is safer than alcohol in many ways.

Comment: There are no side effects besides hungry, happy, sleepy. and the people that partake in smoking it are not criminals... well, some of them are. but it's not pot that makes them criminals. by Ace

Comment: I fully support the legalization of medical marijuana for some people that is the only way that they could or can make it through the day. As someone that has chronic pain and nausea all the time marijuana is the only way that I can eat during the day or even move around and take care of my family in a half decent way. by Dawn

Comment: Get pot off the streets by putting it in the stores. If we don't have overpriced marijuana to push on the streets, many young people may never come in contact with a "drug dealer" and won't develop coke and meth problems... by niceguy

Comment: It's long overdue that we should use the God-given instead of always relying on the man-made in helping us find cures. by ryan

Comment: marijuana is not a drug, it is a natural plant. Why aren't other natural things illegal?

Comment: I saw the interview of the woman who is already using marijuana. To me it sounded like she was having trouble putting a sentence together. No it should never be legalized for any reason. by Gail

Comment: some people suffer constant pain day and night. If it brings some relief great. Many prescriptions drugs are very very toxic and habit forming also. by karen

Comment: IT IS A NATURAL WAY TO EASE PAIN, IT ALSO HELPS TO SOOTH THE STOMACH IN PROVING APPATITE. by LINDA
