Do you think crime in Eastern Iowa has increased over the past five years?

100% Yes
0% No

Comment: Yes it is getting very bad, but the police seem more intrested in giving people parking tickets then confronting people

Comment: yes, crime has definitely increased, from the latest crimes of the masked man robbing the bank and the car in the river to the five men who were smuggling drugs in 2008. it just seems that crime has gone up proportionally to how the economy is doing. by Ice

Comment: We think crime has increased in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City over the past five MONTHS!Perhaps the reasons are the economy and lack of jobs. by Mary

Comment: I believe that the crime rate in CR has increased because of people moving here from Chicago and illegal immigrants coming here to find work by Tom

Comment: Many crimes are unreported because people are afraid to tell. by Ajai

Comment: CR is not the town is was a year ago, let alone 5 years ago. Ever since the flood, which was no ones fault, crime has increased. CR needs to get a police force that wont tolerate the crime. Stop hiring 100 pound females and putting them in the "crime zones", and hire men that can get the job done! Not small female officers that run, because they are scared...or they wait until the male officers can come and back them up...to get the job done! I know, some may call it discrimation, but there has to be some physical requirements to do the job.....CR is the new Chicago. Why do you think most of the police officers live in Marion, Atkins, Shellsburg, Fairfax????Because they dont want to worry about there cars, houses, and kids living in an unsafe environment! by NA

Comment: Its definitely increased. I am originally from the Los Angeles area where the 1st 15 minutes of news is crime ridden. I use to joke the top news story here is a cow that got out. Well now there is no joke about the news. I am starting to miss the not so violent news stories like boulders that show up in fields. by Andi

Comment: Yes it certainly has.. and I beleive its due to so many people getting away with the crimes.. theres been peoples houses drained of all their possessions.. my sons car getting dumped in the Cedar River, My son getting jumped at the skate park by 10 people..and the police haven't done anything. Today we received a call from crpd saying no prints were found on the car cuz it was in the water.. We called pro tow..and no police have even been to the car! I could tell numerous stories like this.. they just don't care enough to catch these criminals.. If its a case that they're too busy at the time, then I'd suggest they take prints..and process later... but they don't and won't.. I just wonder what our taxes are paying for if its not for the safety of this city! by Cathy

Comment: they made more classes to show that it was lower by Douglas
