Comment: It ridiculous to apologize when this was a part of our history and something that can't be changed....so do we do this for everything that has happened in the past. Going to be a Big list! by Bob
Comment: Not one person that was enslaved by the people of Africa are alive so apologize to whom? by Dale
Comment: I did not know I owned any slaves? Maybe i can get one from England for killing my family?(Next we will be paying moneys) by Jeff
Comment: Personally, I think they're looking for money more than an apology, and that's what will come next. No one today can blame their circumstances on being enslaved. They need to get over their "poor me" and take advantage of the things they're offered because some of their ancestors may have been slaves. by Erma
Comment: The United States is a country founded on forgiveness and letting people be free to live their lives within the context of laws governing this country. Ancestors of slaves from the continent of Africa were never really afforded that opportunity by the Europeans that brought them here. The only other nationality which suffered worse in my opinion-(actually they're equal)-are that the Native American tribes of North & South America lost all they knew from their lands their ancestors had lived on for centuries before the "new world" was discovered. Native Americans lost their land/Native Africans were taken from their's! That's my comment. Sincerely, by Monk
Comment: Absolutely not; our generation and the one before had nothing to do with slavery. Get over it, and get a job. The only reason Harkin is 'pushing' this is for black votes. by rea
