Comment: I lost my medical insurance, 8 pets thanks to inability to find a place in a timely manner and have almost been evicted twice thanks to obviously loss of funds. Life has been pretty horrific since June 12th... by Nathan
Comment: As an owner of rental property that sustained damage in the flood, I have received no assistance to rebuild and to again provide housing. Repairs are strictly out of pocket which means that at one year I've not yet rebuilt and it is a financial burden. That is the state of affairs for many owners. On Tuesday, June 9, I will participate in a Landlord Forum to try to help landlords with questions, concerns and the call for action in an effort to help landlords who have not yet recovered. by Mari
Comment: Thank the Lord I had His guidance to buy flood insurance. Inspite of my Allstate agent resisting. My worst experience has been dealing with the city leaders and foot dragging. by Frank
Comment: First, I need to say how thankful I am that no human lives were lost... Beyond that so many lives have been destroyed in so many ways. I worry non-stop and so many of my friends and neighbors do also; but at least we have each other to cling to for support. There is a serious lack of support from our city government!! What would it hurt to help the people that desperatly need it; rather than do as little as possible for home owners? They focus on businesses and down town... That won't matter if there are no residents to utilize these businesses. How are small towns like Vinton and Palo rebuilding so rapidly- because they have leaders that care!!! Thank goodness for religious organizations and volunteers or the entire flood area would look just as it did when the waters recedeed. My faith in humanity is 100%; my faith in government and politics is gone! I would leave Cedar Rapids as soon as I can if we don't get leaders that care about others. We just want our lives back!!!! by Rebecca
Comment: Pain and suffering. The city must think its funny to continue to play with are emotions. Can't even give us an honest answer. Still waiting. by Chris
Comment: I moved from flooded area in downtown Waterloo, Ia. Then moved to another apartment and now the windows leak from rain. So I'm in the process of moving all items from the window wall and putting towels up to help stop rain. Mold and warped window sills are now the problem. The good news about all this, I'm moving again to another location in Cedar Falls, Ia. by Mimi
