"As a citizen and a business owner, it's never been more important to have a balanced and educated city council at the helm, Pat Shey said in the ad. Its not enough just to show up at meetings. What matters is what we accomplish.

Shey isn't attacking back against the claims he doesnt show up for work. Instead, he is showing off his resume of accomplishments during his four years on the city council.

"I'm the only candidate who brought in $25 million in direct investment to Oak Hill/Jackson, who supported $30 million in construction projects, and who offers an innovate way to revitalize neighborhoods," he said in the ad.

All 3 points are true. Shey says he spearheaded an effort to bring in new apartments and about 30 homes to Oak Hill/Jackson after the flood, though McGrane does take some credit as well. He also voted yes on $30 million dollars worth of construction projects through I-Jobs. Mcgrane was one of two council members voting no.

Shey is working on developing a non-profit corporation to inject new life to Cedar Rapids neighborhoods. A similar program in Des Moines has been seen as a big success.Truth Check: Pat Shey Campaign Ad
