Clayborn Named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Clayborn is a 6-3, 282-pound junior from St. Louis. MO. It's the second time this season he has won league honors. He was also named Special Teams Player of the Week after he blocked a punt and took it in for a touchdown against Penn State on Sept. 26th. In Iowa's most recent 15-13 win at Michigan State, Clayborn had four tackles, two sacks for a minus 19 yards and three tackles for losses totaling 21 yards. He also forced a fumble.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Governor Chet Culver is congratulating the women's basketball teams from Iowa, Northern Iowa and Iowa State on their success. All three teams are headed to the NCAA tournament. Iowa plays Rutgers on Saturday. Iowa State faces Lehigh on Sunday, the same day Northern Iowa takes on Number 1 seed Nebraska.

MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Carlos Silva has solidified his claim on a spot in the Cubs' rotation with four shutout innings in Chicago's 4-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. Silva allowed two singles, hit a batter and struck out three yesterday in his sharpest outing.
