Panthers Rally to Beat Drake at MVC Tournament
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Northern Iowa used a 29-2 run to rally and knock off Drake 55-40 in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament on Friday.
The top-seeded Panthers (26-4) will Bradley in the semifinals Saturday.
Adam Koch, the MVC Player of the Year, had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead Northern Iowa. Jordan Eglseder also added 10 points and Lucas O'Rear had a game-high eight rebounds.
Josh Young led eighth-seeded Drake (14-19) with nine points.
Drake jumped to a 24-13 lead by hitting 10 of its first 14 shots. The Bulldogs then misfired on 18 successive shots and went 21:01 without a field goal.
Trailing 24-23 at the break, Northern Iowa scored 19 of the first 21 points in the second half to take control 42-26. Ali Farokhmanesh triggered the outburst with a pair of 3-pointers in a span of 14 seconds.
