Hawks Hear Doubters Heading into Michigan State Game

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- It's almost as if No. 7 Iowa's status as an early contender for the national title has come with an asterisk.

Though the Hawkeyes (7-0, 3-0) are the only undefeated team in the Big Ten, a quick check of this week's Top 25 and BCS standings reveals that there's still some doubts about these Hawkeyes.

All the other unbeaten teams from BCS-affiliated conferences; Alabama, Florida, Texas and Cincinnati, are ranked higher than the Hawkeyes in the Top 25 and the BCS.

Coach Kirk Ferentz says he's not too worried about any of that right now, adding that winning takes care of itself.

Iowa will try for an 8-0 start on Saturday night when it travels to face Michigan State (4-3, 3-1).
