Koch Wins MVC Player of Year Award
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Northern Iowa forward Adam Koch has been named the player of the year in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Koch, a 6-foot-8 senior from Ashwaubenon, Wis., led the Panthers to the regular-season championship, averaging a team-best 12.4 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds. His selection by a panel of league coaches, sports information directors and media was announced Tuesday.
Adam Leonard of Missouri State was named the top newcomer. He is averaging 13.1 points and leads the league with 87 3-pointers.
The freshaman of the year is Colt Ryan of Evansville. Northern Iowa's Lucas O'Rear won the "Sixth Man Award" for the second straight year as the league's top reserve.
