OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Northern Iowa has snapped a 20-year drought in the NCAA tournament. Ali Farokhmanesh hit a 3-pointer from the left wing with 4.9 seconds left to give the ninth-seeded Panthers a 69-66 edge over UNLV in Oklahoma City. He finished with 17 points yesterday.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Iowa has started a methodical march toward a third straight national title at the NCAA wrestling championships. The Hawkeyes advanced eight of their 10 wrestlers to the quarterfinals and finished the meet's first day ahead of Oklahoma State and Iowa State in the points total.
