Plane crashes near farm show in Iowa
September 02, 2010 12:29 EDT
BOONE, Iowa (AP) -- Authorities are on the scene of a plane crash near the Farm Progress Show near Boone in central Iowa.
The Boone County sheriff's office confirmed the crash Thursday, but says no details were immediately available.
KCCI-TV reports the crash occurred about 9:20 a.m.
The Boone News-Republican, which has a reporter on the scene, says the small plane was towing a banner when it crashed.
The newspaper says officials are using a tractor to plow through the corn to reach the crash site.
No further details were available about the plane, the condition of the pilot or if any passengers were on board.
A neighbor, Shane Banghart, told the Boone News-Republican that he saw the plane flying over his house and then it went out of sight and he heard a loud bang.
