Culver congratulates Northern Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa Gov. Chet Culver has congratulations for members of the University of Northern Iowa's basketball team after they defeated the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Ninth-seeded Northern Iowa defeated UNLV 69-66 on Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Culver says in a statement that "there's no better way to begin March Madness than with this exciting victory over UNLV." The Iowa governor says he wishes the Panthers the "best of luck" as they continue in the tournament.
