CBS 2 is proud to team up with Cedar Rapids' "UgeniusU Media" to present you with Scholarshares!

Scholarshares has raised $2,032,203 to date benefiting over 160 Eastern Iowa Schools.

Scholarshares is genius in its simplicity. It allows 126 schools across Eastern Iowa to raise money by selling gift cards to restaurants, retail stores, and service professionals you reguarly frequent. Schools refer to the gift cards, as "scrips".

This is how it works.
Participating schools purchase the gift cards, or "scrips" at a discount from the participant.
Then when each gift card is purchased, a percentage, anywhere from 2% to 25%, is kept by that school. Schools are free to spend the money, with input from the purchasers, where they see necessary. Whether its to buy new computers, or update the fire alarm system.
